분사구문의 해석 > 아온의 서고

1.시간 : ~할 때(= when), ~하는 동안(= while)

 Hearing the news, she turned pale with fear.
= When she heard the news, she turned pale with fear.
그 소식을 들었을 때, 그녀는 두려움에 얼굴이 창백해졌다.

2.이유(원인) : ~때문에 (= because, as, since)

Not knowing what to do, I asked for his advice.
= Because I didn't know what to do, I asked for his advice.
 무엇을 해야할 지 몰랐기때문에, 나는 그에게 충고를 부탁했다.

3. 조건 : 만약 ~한다면 (= if)

Turning to the left, you will find the house.
= If you turn to the left, you will find the house.
왼쪽으로 돈다면, 당신은 그 집을 찾을 것이다.

4.양보 : 비록 ~이지만 (= though, although)

Admitting he is right, I cannot forgive him.
= Although I admit he is right, I cannot forgive him.
비록 그가 옳다는 것을 인정하지만, 나는 그를 용서할 수 없다.

*부대상황의 분사구문

두 가지 동작이 동시에 또는 연속적으로 일어나는 상황을 부대상황이라고 한다.
부대상황이 동시에 일어나는 경우를 <동시동작>,
연속적으로 일어나는 경우를 <연속동작>이라고 한다.

5. 동시동작 : ~하면서 (= as, while)

Singing and dancing together, we had a good time.
= As we sang and danced together, we had a good time.
우리는 함께 노래하고 춤추면서, 즐거운 시간을 보냈다.



6. 연속동작(계속) : 그리고 ~하다 (= and ~)

 We started in the morning, arriving in Taeback in the evening.
= We started in the morning, and arrived in Taeback in the evening.
 우리는 아침에 출발해서, 저녁에 태백에 도착했다.
